Congratulations Judy...

I started having my attacks after a 12 month break of them when I

was 9 weeks pregnant. The doctors told me that Phenergen was pretty

well okay for me to take, as is Reglan. They had me on demerol for

pain saying it was safe enough also. But then the demerol was enough

to help ease my pain. I was hospitalized 6 times during my 9 months

of pregnancy (my daughter came 3 1/2 weeks early..possibly because

of the pain meds) and when they weighed me after she was born, I was

10lbs lighter than what I weighed before I fell pregnant. I

estimated that I lost about 40lbs during my pregnancy. My daughter

was born healthy and normal at 5lb 13oz...

My GI was concerned during my whole pregnancy, and told me that he

would be prepared for an emergency c-section in case I had an attack

during labor. After all the pain I suffered because of the

pancreatitis, I felt it my duty to myself to not have to suffer

through the pain of child birth also, so opted for the

epidural...but the doctor concurred that this was a good idea for me

because if I did have an attack, they wouldn't have to worry about

me trying to stay still during severe pain to put the epidural in

place. Mind you, I never uttered one sound for the 8 hours of pain I

had before the epidural...it honestly didn't hurt me as much as the

pancreatitis did...
