Guest guest
Dear Deanna: Yes. People really don't want to hear negative things. Everyone seems to be pre-occupied with their own issues. I am finding that unless you have been through a similar illness or problem, it is often hard to relate. That is why I am beginning to be more and more comfortable with our group. It's great to have other people to share with who have " been there, done that " . As far as the problems with medical MDs and ERs, I just simply will not put up with being denied proper treatment! I am always as courteous and respectful as possible, but when I even begin to suspect a MD is acting in a prejudicial way towards me (as though I am a drug seeking low life) I quickly set them straight as to this disease and what my medical needs are. If that doesn't work, I turn into " super New Yorker Steve " and demand to see someone else more competent. In other words, don't take no for an answer, when the answer should be a definite YES! Warmest Regards Steve Deanna Tubb wrote: You wrote: " Real or not, I felt they were getting tired of hearing how sick I was, " Steve, I feel the same way. My Mom has back problems from an auto accident & has chronic pain, & we both decided to talk to each other about our symptoms & talk about everything else to other people. Even when someone asks how I'm feeling, I keep my answers short. Sometimes I feel like I being punished for being sick. Losing my marriage, job, car, appartment.........Then I get to a point where everything seems to have clamed down, & it comes back & bites me in the butt again. Trouble getting meds, horrible ER visits, no Rx coverage..........Do you ever feel that way? Hugs, Deanna Tubb New Mexico PAI Rep
Guest guest
Hi Steve! Thanks for the encouragement! I started out behind with everything & I can't seem to get on top of my assignments. I didn't expect there to be so many. I like what I'm studying though. I was an RN, so I was able to transfer those credits over to the Bachelors program in Criminal Justice. I wanted to go into CJ in the first place, but chose nursing b/c I needed to support my kids as quickly as possible & b/c I had a lot of background for nursing. My dream is to eventually get a certificate in crime scene investigation & one in forensics. If I continue to do well with my health, I think it would be something I could do to combine my education. Especially with forensics. Even though I'm not working in nursing, I'll always love the medical field & sciences.
