Guest guest
Hello! Thanks for the reminder about Vhrissy and the difficulties of posting! I'd forgotten she mentioned that! I'm not too bad at the moment, thank you. Creon works very well for me in controlling thelower-abdominal malabsorption symptoms. I don't eat fried food or anything greasy and I find certain foods such as pickles and some fruits (eg. strawberries) cause me problems. Other than that, I eat fairly normally at the moment. The upper-abdominal pancreatic pain still hits me when least expected but it is definitely going through a much better phase just now than it was between 2000 and 2003 when the severity and frequency of the pain had greatly increased again. Whether that improvement is due to Creon, lack of any alcohol at all, lower-fat diet, chance(!!) or simply a combination of all these factors, I just don't know! How long it will last I simply don't know! It has made me decide to stay on in work for another year (I'm 58) unless there's a deterioration again over the next couple of months. BTW, I have hereditary pancreatitis and have had severe abdominal pain episodes of one kind or another since I was 5 years old with my worst stage so far (frequent flare-ups and constant pain and diarrhoea) in the mid to lat 1980's. My definitive diagnosis came last year, 53 years after my first attack!! I don't repeat my story to be self-centred but just in case anybody new tunes in and might find something which relates to their own experience. I was deeply shocked when i got my diagnosis but now there is, to an extent, relief in knowing what this mystery illness in my life actually is. PAI has helped me enormously both in getting hold quickly of the information I need and in giving much-needed personal support. Good luck to both of you with your present difficulties. If I can help in any way please let me know. I am so very grateful to the PAI. Fliss
