Depends on if you are talking about the kombucha tea or kombucha squash.

The squash is legal (and really yummy).

Elaine Gottschall didn't like the kombucha tea and cautioned against using it.

She said:

" I would not use that tea if you are following SCD. It has had much

controversy surround it and I do not look for trouble. "
