Guest guest
Donna, Your experiences with the duragesic patch losing it's intensity near the end of the second day are not unusual. In my research, I've found many other patients that complain of the same, and they've gotten their doctor's to prescribe it for a 2 day period, instead of 3. I've noticed this myself on many occasions, but fortunately so far have been able to deal with it. I am going to ask my PM doc to change my dosing days to 2, also, so I can get more adequate coverage. I feel the same way you do Donna, that the patch has been a life saver. I needed that continual coverage that taking pills just didn't provide. With those it was like being on a roller coaster, with only sporadic relief, followed by heavy breakthrough pain, then taking another pill trying to " catch up " .....it never quite worked. What you said about us needing continual coverage was most accurate. Now that the hot weather is upon us, I've found that I have to use the Bioclusive adhesive film to cover the patch to keep it from coming loose from perspiration on my skin. Fortunately Janssen will provide those for free once you sign up with them. Other good news yesterday was that the recall on the 75 mg. patch is over and I was able to start using one patch again, instead of wearing a 50 mg. and a 25 mg. The 50 and 25 mg. patches had become hard to find items in our area because of all the recalls. Cyndi, I hope the patch will be working well for you, also. I spent a few hours last night on messages with Giovanni, explaining that with some people, one of the annoying side effects of the patch is excessive sweating. He has problems with it, as well as I, but even with this side effect, I'm not willing to give them up. Nothing else has worked as well. Donna, congrats on your induction to Grammiehood!! While the delivery sounded tense and troublesome, it looks like the baby will be fine and healthy. I hope his mother is doing well, also. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
