Guest guest
I thought I would throw this out to ya all. I asked the ASBS about their position on the MGB and th statement by Alvarado. Here is the response I just got: Subject: Re: MGB Bypass Concerns Date: Tue, 12 Sep 2000 13:15:37 EDT From: MalloryGN@... To: desmisc@... The ASBS has no official position on " Mini-gastric bypass " , or indeed, any bariatric surgical operation. We have no control over content of any web site except our own, or over any opinions expressed in other web sites. The " consensus " quote you refer to is a liberal interpretation of the term, in that it reflects the majority opinions expressed by speakers during the annual conference. This in no way implies official approval by the Society. Indeed the Society makes a point of NOT taking positions on individual operative procedures, preferring to provide a forum where issues pertaining to physiology, technique, complications and outcome can be frankly and fully discussed. Other than the claim concerning the " consensus " , the comments do fairly reflect the contrary viewpoint expressed concerning " Mini-gastric bypass " ASBS
Guest guest
Judith, I believe I just asked the ASBS to comment on the following statement from Alvarado, I just copied and pasted the statement from the Alvarado site onto the email word for word. Guest guest
Thanks for the clarification. Guest guest
I am going out on a limb here and assume that ASBS is the American Society of Bariatric Surgery. If that assumption is correct, one thing is clear. Lawyers Rule! It's too bad the respondent didn't go into politics, rather than medicine. He could be President!!! Master of Doublepseak and saying nothing! Shame. Spineless. Could have saved the ink!
