Guest guest
Hello Jean, Of course I don't know anything about your daughter's condition nor do I know what her doc has said. There is a state called " burn-out " which sometimes occurs when the pancreas has ceased to function at all. In some cases, the pain itself diminishes greatly at that stage, or even disappears completely. This may be what your daughter is hoping for. Burn-out doesn't always happen; it's by no means inevitable. Sometimes it takes years and years to reach and in other cases it's quite rapid. Heidi has reached burn-out although her case is complicated by the pseudocysts. She has posted more than once about this so I know she won't mind my mentioning it. She will probably tell you more herself now. I am not diabetic yet so my pancreas is still producing insulin. However, my docs think I'll be diabetic very soon. My pancreas has little, if any, digestive function left and my CP is " end-stage " . I have had some pain-free time over the last few months. I am hoping this is " burn-out " starting but it may just be the effect of the Creon or, of course, simple chance. I hope for the very best for your daughter. I have been aware for a long time how worried you are about her. With good wishes, Fliss
