Guest guest
HI All, I have come to a conclusion about my son,his is sensative to yeast. We never did the intro diet because my son is such a picky eater and I was not strong enough. Through trial an error we found out that he was sensative to almonds ,bananas and I believe apples. When ever we took out an offensive food we saw more improvements. Since we had taken away the raw bananas and apples we gave him watermelon(raw-seedless)Life was crazy for us as we were buildning a home .We have seen him regress alot in the last two months. We have taken the watermelon away. If bananas and apples raw are not good for him will adding them cooked into recipes be any different? Fruit was the easy snack and now I feel lost in what to replace it with. I would also say that his gut has some way to go and I need to get more serios about antifungals, any advice would be appreciated as the fustration is mounting. My son was doing well until the last two months,I stopped the nystatin because i think there may have been some illegals in it. I need some engouraging to keep on ,I wasn't expecting this regression just because of watermelon. Thanks for listening . Guest guest
Cooked foods are different from raw foods. Cooking will inactivate things that a person may otherwise be reacting to. This is often referred to as an 'oral allergy'. For example, if I eat a whole raw banana, I get numb lips and a buzzing sensation (uncomfortable yet interesting)... How is a child supposed to relay that type of info.? However, I can eat an unlimited amount of cooked banana product without issue. So you see, cooking does change things. Watermelon is a reactive food for many people. I don't yet know why this is, I just know that we have issues with it in our family and I have spoken with MANY other people who have trouble with it. What about pears? What about other 'kinds' of apples. Each form of apple has a different chemistry makeup. Stewed pears are easy to make once a week. Jar them. Store them in the fridge... And there is your breakfast for the rest of the week. What about kiwi? papaya? mango? peaches? nectarines? In a couple of weeks I might suggest adding in blueberries and cantalope. With pears, you will then have 7 fruits to play with. You may have to finish the nystatin regimen in order to get him to a good starting place. However, you may want to look into oregano water or oil. I know that studies have shown that oregano water will stop growth of staph and, to a degree, E-coli but I do not remember yeast... however, it may be worth looking into that for you. Try google scholar. Remember that Elaine did say, something to the effect, that if you need a medicine, you need it. Take it and then do the best you can with the rest of life. I'm not sure if Nystatin is legal or not but I'm sure someone else here will be able to answer that. Hopefully they will suggest some more fruits too. Guest guest
Toni, Have you tried the SCD goat yogurt? That is the best yeast fighter! Start out with tiny amounts such as 1/16 of a teaspoon. I'm not sure if Nystatin is legal or not Nystatin has illegals in it. However, it did get rid of my son's yeast, and his behavior was the best ever while on it, so the anti-yeast effect overpowered the yeast-feeding illegals that were in it. My son's yeast came back after going off Nystatin so you will probably also need to adjust other things to keep your son's yeast from coming back once he is off the Nystatin. mother of Adam (8, PDD-NOS, Lyme, asthma, egg allergy , SCD 7/06) >but I'm >sure someone else here will be able to answer that. Guest guest
If you get the Nystatin compounded just tell them not to add any sweetners, this is what we do for my son. I put it in some water and doesn't taste like anything. Jeanne " M. Start out with small doses such as 1/10 of a teaspoon. http://jn.nutrition.org/cgi/content/abstract/129/7/1492S Yogurt helps immune function, decreases allergies and prevents the increase of cholesterol.
