Guest guest
, This is very typical of die-off... and should be temporary. You probably would not have seen die-off with GF/CF because that diet is not intended to kill off bacterial overgrowth... it merely keeps out the foods that offend (gluten and casein) due to the leaky gut. What you REALLY want is to HEAL the leaky gut.... something GF/CF cannot do. The very fact that you're seeing an increase in this negative behavior tells us that the toxins that are usually being given off every day by the bad gut pathogens that have been blissfully going about their business in your child's gut, and now DYING... and therefore giving off a LOT MORE of the same toxins, at the moment. This will not be forever. It's actually a good sign that SCD is doing it's job! Try epsom salts baths (or lotion), if you are not already doing that. Also, an activated charcoal supplement can often absorb some of those toxins as they leave his body, making him more comfortable. You would look for one that has no added illegals... and if he can't swallow a capsule, you'd need to open it and mix it into some legal food or drink. It can be quite messy (and BLACK in color).. so a little tricky, but worth it if you can get it down him. Patti New to group and Diet...HELP Please My son has been on diet for exactly 8 days now. Today he is stimming out of control, talking to his hands and seems completely out of it. He has been doing pretty well for the first 5 days with minimal stimming but yesterday was whining all day long about EVERYTHING. Today it's laughing out loud and the hand talk....Is this to be expected. I didn't see this while on gluten free at all. There was no initital Die off hardly and his behavior gradually got better. His language did not however. Still only 2 and three words at a time. i am trying this in the hopes to increase language as I really dont think gfcf did enough for gut healing....obviously no die off right? Anyway, my family thinks I am being to restrictive and they want me to return to old gfcf, but I just don't think it's enough for him. Can anyone give me some words of wisdom? I feel like I am losing him. Please help-
Guest guest
Sometimes, you see increased behavior when there is a die off taking place, I think. Just as some people feel sick to their stomach, the asd child can show more severe stimming while the bad guys are fighting for life and losing. Guest guest
, If he's so new to SCD, it is definitely too soon for ANY raw fruits or veggies.... the only exception would be ripe banana or avocado, which do not need to be cooked. Guest guest
Hi , > > Most of the veggies and fruit is cooked. MOstly veggies fruits, meat, and > homemade chicken soup. Did you start with the intro diet? If not, restarting with that for a day or two and then gradually adding peeled, cooked fruit and veggies. If unsure which foods to add after the intro have a look at http://pecanbread.com/foodprep.html#beyond Raw fruit and veggies, that aren't being digested properly, may be feeding the harmful bacteria and yeast. If they are being fed that could account for the increased stimming etc..
