Guest guest
I would say that I think goat yogurt tastes like cleanser, but it definitely has a flavor unique to itself. We started out by adding honey and fruit(usually banana), and then were able to back off after a while. You will get used to it. Guest guest
Theresa, It sometimes depends on the milk. I have to say that in MY opinion, the goat milk from Meyenburg is just AWFUL tasting.... really strong and " goaty " . STINKY, too! A friend of mine who raises goats told me that company mixes together milk from many different breeds of goats.... so you don't really know what type of goat their milk is coming from. Some breeds have better tasting milk than others. When I buy milk from my friend, it makes a MUCH tastier, and thicker yogurt than Meyenburg. Her goats are Nubians.... and I have heard they have a really good tasting milk. You might try to locate a 4-H group in your area that raises goats.... and see if you can buy straight from the farm. You could also try dripping the yogurt, which will take away *some* (not all) of the tartness and yuckier flavor.... and yield a thicker yogurt. Patti The taste of goat yogurt I'm sorry, but is it just me or does goat yogurt taste funny? I always had cow milk products. When I try to goat yogurt, I taste something along the lines of a cleanser or something! Guest guest
I know Meyenberg's goat milk makes terrible yogurt. I just made goat yogurt with raw goat milk and it came out delicious. It was a little tart but delicious. Eileen Brown

Guest guest
I have made yogurt from Meyenberg and from Summerhill (both from Trader Joe's) with success, and once from Meyenberg from a supermarket, and it didn't gel. I think that there must be something about the way the supermarket stored it, how long they had it, etc, that made a difference. The Summerhill might be a LITTLE less goaty, though. In my family, 4/5 like goat milk yogurt and cheese but my daughter hates goat yogurt even when strained and no matter how much honey I put on it. Maybe its like wine, an acquired taste! I don't think many are born liking it. At least not after the standard American diet. Lorilyn Re: The taste of goat yogurt I know Meyenberg's goat milk makes terrible yogurt.
