If you got the cast and waited " weeks and weeks " it might not fit

properly. At 13 mo it might be alright since growth is slow, but

something to consider.

Can he pull the helmet off if it is closed? if not try a barrette on

the velcro to keep it closed. My daughter had brachy and I still wish

we had gotten more correction. She was corrected to 86%, but I still

notice it.

Hi Alison,

I had the same problem when my son turned one- it was like all of a

sudden one day he reached up there and saw that he could do it- then

the fight was on...someone on the board- I think suggested a

barrette. It works great. I got one of the metal kind that clasp

underneath and he can not even budge it...watch out though it can

scratch the helmet--but its worth it to keep him from stripping

every time we turn around :)

Hi Sydney,

Thanks for you reply, but I think we may just have to forget about this helmet treatment. Even with the helmet fastened with the velcro he can still get it off, he can get it off with one hand, lol. He is really strong, lol. And yes the helemt does fit correctly. Not much can be done. Oh, well. We tried.

Cheers,

Alison (Burnie TAS Australia)

Spencer (12/10/2007) - Brachycephaly

Fletcher (7/01/2004) - CHD Graduate

My ortho told me about that barrette trick too. It's supposed to

really work.

Duct tape over the velcro will do the trick.
