Guest guest
Thanks. I saw it posted for someone else right before this one. The DAN! wants us to stay at a half tablet for now until the D clears up. She just ate 3 hard boiled eggs and some applesauce so I feel much better. She has never eaten HARD BOILED eggs before- just fried in olive oil. We are seeing her being very calm, moreso than we've ever seen her and using her words very well today also. We've had to use this drink before. Jenn & K Electrolyte Drink The SCDT Knowledge Base Electrolyte Drink Many Pedialyte and Electrolyte drinks are made with dextrose. Unfortunately, it is difficult to be sure if the dextrose is unadulterated (see Dextrose). It is easy to make your own. Electrolyte drink 1 quart boiled water 2 tbsp. honey 1/4 tsp. of salt 1/4 tsp.baking soda Can be kept in refrigerator for 24 hours, and then a new batch should be made. From the LI listserve Jim and Jen wrote: I need the electrolyte recipe guys! My daughter has been on nystatin for 5 days now. She has been on SCD for over 18 months now. I thought we had cut through the majority of the yeast but, maybe not. She went from having severe constipation on SCD to 2 normal BM's per day before she went on the nystatin. She has had tons of antibiotics in the past also. She has been pooping all over the place again and the D is severe. She has the sore red ring around her anus and has almost no apetite. Just drinking like a little fish. She won't eat any of the intro. foods so I'm going to try a banana. Wish me luck and please send me the recipe. Guest guest
Yes, less stringy looking and more mucousy.(Sorry for those explicit details.) We did some electrolyte popsickles and ice cubes and she is acting a bit better but, I can still tell by her demeanor that she is having die-off. The dark circles under her eyes are a dead giveaway with her. Can nystating cause D in a person that doesn't need to detox? Thanks . Waiting to hear from you, Jenn & K Re: Electrolyte Drink Hi Jenn > Thanks. I saw it posted for someone else right before this one. Guest guest
Sheila, I have seen absolutely no change in speech since starting the nystatin but, she is much more calm and doesn't ride things anymore. With all this talk about Nystatin, I am rethinking this. I can't give her epsom salts baths because she drinks the water. Any other suggestions? I have some organic MSM. And, since her D had resolved, I started to give her the nystatin again yesterday. The last thing I need is to battle a bad liver too. Her apetite for new foods lately is growing at an alarming rate with no hives, skin rashes, gas, dry skin, and before nystatin she was going 2 times a day reg., formed Bm's. What a miracle in itself!! That's why we are here. We need SCD to heal. Thanks, Jenn & K Re: Electrolyte Drink Hi Jenn, < by her demeanor that she is having die-off. Guest guest
<<I can't give her epsom salts baths because she drinks the water. Any other suggestions?>> You can make epsom salts lotion yourself.... very easy. Then you can just rub it on her back or wherever. Here's a link with recipes: http://www.enzymestuff.com/epsomsalts.htm Patti
Guest guest
Hi Jenn, << can't give her epsom salts baths because she drinks the water. Any other suggestions? >> I made up an epsom salt cream using the recipe form D's enzymestuff website http://www.enzymestuff.com/epsomsalts.htm#3 I plan to try the foot baths to see how that helps. - Taking a foot bath while answering emails Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 22yrs mom of and
Guest guest
Hi Jenn, << Sheila, Please talk to me more about what you know of nystatin. Jenn & K>> Nystatin is often made with sucrose, so you need to check the label or ask the pharmacist what is in it. Most any medication can cause diarrhea and nystatin is not an exception to this. Some may experience nausea and or vomiting also. Some of those side effects could be from the dosage level and some may come from clearing out the yeast. I had a very bad reaction - stomach cramps, pain etc. I don't believe my reaction was from die off; I just don't handle medications or supplements well. I had a better luck with the natural antifungals and enzymes. Some people do very well with the legal nystatin , so if it works for you go for it. Do you have any specific questions about nystatin? If so, I'll do my best to answer them. Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 22yrs mom of emily and daniel > < by her demeanor that she is having die-off.
