Guest guest
Just wanted to add my own words of encouragement to others posted. We all get down and depressed at times - sometimes things are worse than others, more severe pain, or day after day without adequate rest, or an insensitive health care provider, and on and on. The message board is a chance for you to let us know you need some kind words or practical counsel. All I can offer is what's helped me. I was told to make a written list of my support system. It consists of people I can call if I need someone to talk to, or someone to distract me, or someone to take me to the doctor. There are specific things I can do under different circumstances. Exercise, or nap, or do a puzzle, for example. I've listed funny movies I can enjoy watching if I'm in pain or unhappy for whatever reason. There are book titles that I rely on for medical information, or for a good laugh. And one I'd like to recommend to you. It's a little picture book called " The Blue Day Book. " I challenge anyone to go through every page and not crack a smile before reaching the end. I've seen the book at Long's Drug Stores and at Waldenbooks and Borders. It's $9.95 and I've bought at least 12 copies over the past couple of years to give as gifts. I've think I've also seen it online at Amazon.com. Although I've addressed this to Paget, because the post a couple of days ago really touched me, I hope anyone who needs some encouragement can benefit from what I've written. I'm having a good day, myself, and wish you all the best. Aloha, Chris
