After hearing twice in 48 hours about a kitchen tool called a microplane, I took

it as a sign and bought one. They are terrific! That's how I grate hard cheese

and citrus peel now. It is a hand tool, sort of like a long fine grater, folded

a little to the back on both long edges, on a handle like a butchers knife. And

you can get to the back easily (unlike getting to the back of a box grater) to

get to the peel or cheese that inevitably sticks to the back of graters, as well

as wash them in the dishwasher.

As for the cheese, I buy mine at Costco! Large wedges, though, not blocks.

I am going to start buying parmasean cheese in block. The last time I did

this, it was so hard! I couldn't cut it. <snip>

I want to know, if any of you are grating your own parmasean cheese?

If so, how, what type of machine, are you able to use the food processor,

and if so, what kind (how strong is it like horsepower, ect. because this

stuff is hard!).

By the way, if anyone knows of a good brand in MI, USA, that is SCD safe,

please let me know.
