Guest guest
PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM BACON WITH SUGAR UNLESS YOU ARE AN ADULT WITHOUT ANY NEUROLOGICAL PROBLEMS. I am not sure when the " bacon with sugar is OK once a week " idea was formulated. I did not find it in Dr Haas' book. Maybe it was formulated from the experience of adults with GI problems. Many of the adults with GI problems are on very powerful medications that increase tolerance for a small amount of illegal foods. Parents of children with ASD or other neurological issues have to be aware that we have to be more careful. Many of our children are not on meds. An even more important difference is that Dr Haas states that you need 100% compliance for brain healing. Dr Haas found out that children who had a small number of infractions got gut healing but not neurological healing. Guest guest
Mimi, The bacon with sugar once a week comes from BTVC page 53. And I quote, " However, for those people who cannot get their meat smoked without sugar, ordinary smoked bacon may be eaten once a week if it is fried very crisply. " I am not saying that those with neurological issues should use it, I just wanted to say where it came from. You are right in saying it is probably fine for those with GI issues but not for those with Autism. That being said, if you live in Canada, Maple Leaf 33% less salt bacon is sugar-free.
