Guest guest
Ugh!!! Last night was sleeping over at my mother-on-law's house. She had been a tiny bit congested earlier in the day but I wasn't too concerned about it. Well, at 9:30 last night, the phone rings and Barb (M-I-L) says that is snoring. Well, is my kid after all, and she does snore a bit, so my hubby told her that she does that sometimes and not to worry. About 15 min later the phone rings again and Barb says that is breathing funny and to come over to listen. So we got in the car and went over. Oh My gosh! sounded awful. the snore was nothing like what she usually has! She was retracting with every breath. Barb had given her some nose drops to alleviate some of the congestion. So We gave her a neb treatment but she still sounded awful. Her resp. rate was fine at about 20 per min. Well, I stayed over with in the same bed so I could pay attention to her breathing. I was up a lot listening to the rattles and snores. I called CF clinic this AM. the fellow said that it sounds upper respiratory rather than lower. from past experience, I know with infections at one end of the resp. tract often travel fast, so we are worried. The fellow prescribed some nose spray and told us to wait a few days to see if it helps. She is only to use the spray for 3 days and no more. has now mentioned a sore throat a few times but doesn't like the cough drops and cold eez that I got for her. So we are making do with Tylenol. We are hoping this doesn't get too bad. We'd like to keep our lucky streak going (Three years since our last hospitalization/IV antibiotics) Please keep in your thoughts!
