Guest guest
Hi Heidi, I have been getting more pain again ( Had total pancreatectomy in 2000 - a Beger's procedure, which leaves a small rim of pancreas to preserve the blood supply to the duodenum, followed by further surgery last November to remove the small rim of pancreas). I'd been getting right-sided abdo pain, nausea and occasional vomiting. Prof Neoptolemos at the the Royal Liverpool Hospital thought the symptoms could possibly be due to a degree of malabsorption, and advised increasing the Creon. Since increasing the dose and spacing them out throughout the meal, as he advised, i have experienced worse pain. I'm not too bad first thing in the morning, but as the day goes on, each time i have a meal seems to add to my distress. I get a heavy bloated feeling, and the pain gets progressively worse. I don't know if this is a result of the increased enzymes, or if there could be another reason for the pain, which is always a worry after what happened last year. The surgery i had last November removed as much of the rim of pancreas that was left, as it was possible to do, but i am worried that the bit that is left could become inflammed - if you see what i mean. Anyway, sorry to go on so long. Thanks for 'listening'. Always good to hear from you. Best wishes, Sue
