Guest guest
Just for your network's information: Barrett's Esophagus can happen to anyone at any weight. You don't have to be obese, so don't let scare you into thinking it is a product of MGB. It is caused by reflux. Anyone with bad reflux (GERD) should be tested for problems with the esophagus. . ..people like myself who have asthma, which is usually accompanied by reflux problems, get tested for Barrett's, and I don't have a weight problem. Happily, I also don't have Barrett's. I'm entrusting my daughter to you in the near future, Dr. Rutledge, and we both believe in you and what you are doing. We both thank God to have found you. I think it is sad that feels it is necessary to try to scare people who are in a vulnerable time of their lives. Joan Spector - - - Anker's mother. . . Guest guest
I have been working on my packet, have sent my letter to insurance, and so far so good. My daughter is 26 and I asked her about writing the letter (of course after she reads the patient manual and does her own research.) she is receptive. My son, on the other hand may be more of a challenge. He has always had a very strong opinion about dieting (for cosmetic reasons), I am sure because of what he has watched me go thru in his lifetime! He is 18 and a freshman in college. He is very intelligent. I went to see him last night armed with an inch -thick stack of paperwork and information. I was really happy that he was at least receptive (I think because he knows it is now a health issue with me). He is the type that will read the info cover to cover, scrutinize it and probably look for even more information on the web. Of all of the steps in this process, this is probably the one I am worried most about! He said he will look at all of it with an open mind and if he is comfortable with it, he will gladly write the letter for me. Does anyone know if Dr R would have a problem with Brett e-mailing him directly with questions or concerns? I'm sure that would be a major + if he could hear directly from the doctor if he needs to! I just looked on the obesityhelp.com website and am very excited to report that most all insurance pre-certs in my state with my insurance company have been approved the 1st time thru! Hopefully all will go well. Dr R-- I am hoping to be spending thanksgiving week with you! If so i will have alot to be thankful for! Guest guest
: My husband sounds just like your son.........reading everything from top to bottom and is very supportive of the surgery. He has emailed Dr. R with his questions and has received " quick " responses to them. Good Luck Christy in California
