a good word on passive helmets

Hi Leila,

no offense here, but I think it would be great if you specify which passive helmet Maysa had, because it is just a bit unfair to pitch all passive helmets in one pot. We (as some other people from Michigan Detroit/Ann Arbor area) have a passive helmet form Danmar and have had so far very good results. My son's asymmetry went down for 17 mm to 6 mm in 8 weeks.

I guess it is good to make people aware, but at the same time being very general makes people unnecessary anxious. As we discussed this earlier on this board, the success with passive helmets depends a lot on the age (best if started earlier) and the experience of the ortho.

I know that few other people here had been very successful with passive helmets.

Which band will you be using? I am always curious to find that out as our first helmet (a passive helmet) was a bad experience for us. My daughter Maysa wore two DOC bands. She is graduating on Tuesday and if you really wonder whether the helmet works, this is what I have to say: as long as the band AND the orthotist who will be adjusting it are reputable, then you WILL see results.

hi guys,well i guess to make a long story short, my son was born 10 pounds so they said he was restricted in the womb and always faced one way. i noticed around 6-7 weeks the flat spot! everyone said it was no big deal, im so glad i got every one elses opinions...if it wasnt for the internet then i dont know- i guess i woulda thought it would go away all by itself!anyways, they said he was making significant improvement by himself but it would never be totally 'normal' without the helmet....so we went ahead and got him casted but now of course im sitting here wondering if we did the right thing. is he gonna hate this thing? AND DOES IT REALLY WORK??? i knew i could turn to all you guys on here after all we are all kinda in some ways going through the same things.i really am concerned with how much it will really work and did your child hate the darn thing??? im so nervous about
