Guest guest
Hi: My 7yo son has been on the SCDiet for over 2 yrs and our GI doc said he looks great with no GI issues, with that said I really wanted to try different organic foods off the diet. I did wanted to give him red-skinned potatoes or maybe some sort of rice. My question to all is what food would be best to try off the diet, he will still be taking enzymes. Please email me privately if you want. Thanks for your help. Jeanne __________________________________________________

I am assuming your boy been symptom free for an entire year of anything that was not a GI issue for which you may have used the diet. If I were choosing something to reintroduce it would probably be rice and I have no scientific reason to favor it over red potatoes. My own experience after six years is the foods excluded from SCD that I have tried don't taste right . A prime example would be conventional cheesecake which now tastes horrible, gluey and artiificial, heavy and unpleasant when I compare it to SCD . Another example was a small herbed cracker. I can't stand the starch and sugar. Maybe I have brainwashed myself, but it makes no difference. I also get a funny sensation in my nose when trying these things and have learned it doesn't pay. That's my story. Elaine's daughter resumed a standard diet and has been fine with it for years. Many newcomers ask if they will ever be able to resume the Standard American Diet. My question was " Will I ever be able to eat without pain. " The answer was apparent when I adopted SCD as a way of life and could eat pain free.. Carol F.
