Guest guest
I think if she's only been on SCD a little more than one month, it is too soon for raw foods or whole nuts, and definitely too soon for beans. In my personal opinion, you may not have seen any overt GI symptoms in your older child, but if she's had tons of food sensitivities.... it is very likely she had a leaky gut going on. That's probably the reason the naturopath recommended SCD. Especially if you've seen improvement in even this short a time, that is a clue that she did have a damaged gut, despite no diarrhea or constipation, and that it's now beginning to heal. I would urge you not to get too impatient and jump too soon to the harder-to-digest foods. Give it another month for raw foods... and another two months, at least, for beans. Patti Food allergies/ sensitivities in children I am wondering if there are members who are using SCD to battle food sensitivities/ allergies. I found out about SCD through my daughter's ND after a year of food eliminations and expensive supplments helped only partially. I have two children who suffer from eczema which is a little a-typical. Neither seem to have tummy problems (although my younger daughter does sometimes go between being constipated and having loose stools). We began SCD in mid-July and have seen more sucess with it than with anything else we've tried (yeah!), but I'm just wondering if there are others 'out there' who are on this board for the same thing - either in the present or in the past... Also, BTVCtalks a lot about not using certain foods until the loose stools clear, but since this is not an issue for my older daughter, does this mean I can go ahead with all legal foods (except those that she is sensitive to?). I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks!
Guest guest
Hi! We are also going to try SCD to eliminate food sensitivites. My two boys have 30 food sensitivities each and they seem to get worse to the point where we don't have any fruit and a few veggies. We haven't started yet because I still haven't received my book and my boys have sensitivities to almonds, honey, carrots, and some other intro diet foods. I'm not quite sure how to get around it. Please tell me what kind of success you have had because I am really looking foward to trying this and would love to know what to expect with this diet related to food sensitivities. Thanks so much! Guest guest
Jill, You don't have to use any food that causes a reaction. Hopefully, you'll eventually be able to introduce some of those that they are now sensitive to. Notice that the name of this group is " Pecanbread " ? That's because quite a few of the children here could not handle almonds.... for those, pecans are often a good alternative, or hazelnuts, for the nut flours. For intro, just stay as close as you can to the foods listed. If you can't use carrots, then maybe green beans would be the best alternate. It's only for two days, so it can be pretty simple just for that short a time. Patti Re: Food allergies/ sensitivities in children Hi! We are also going to try SCD to eliminate food sensitivites. Guest guest
Thanks Patti! Do you are anyone know how soon we can introduce foods that they have sensitivities? My son was IGG sensitive to honey but he has not had honey in a year. -Jill > > Jill, > You don't have to use any food that causes a reaction.
