Guest guest
Carol, I'll address this one comment. Other than I'm also sorry we seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot. The diet needs to be expanded for one reason and one reason only - and I am speaking selfishly...I cannot stay adequately hydrated with only the fluids that are " legal. " It is as simple as that. So your comment of " why not go along with SCD for a trial period " is tantamount to saying - hey, why not invite yourself to being hospitalized for dehydration...not really an option as far as I'm concerned. So, if I examine Rooibos and see that it has NOTHING in it that SEEMS illegal " then it adds one more fluid to my repertoire. I already know there are other people on the list with the same water issue that I have. (from private email) Maybe the information could help them too. I'm grateful that the vast majority of people do NOT have my problem. Believe me it is not one I would wish on anyone - but, at the same time the issue does exist for me. I don't want it to be a large enough issue to keep me from giving the diet a chance - but it does require me to be flexible. Or, be hospitalized. Without meaning to be sarcastic, because I'm really not, which do you think I should choose? -- Re: rooibos Since you have only recently started your healing journey, why not go along with SCD for a trial period while continuing your research and journaling your findings and questions instead of inviting yourself to be kicked off the list? Just a suggestion. Carol F.
Guest guest
So many people have applauded me for standing up to you on list. Unfortunately they have only said that to me off list. I've been told to just ignore you. But, I thought that I gave you a perfectly sound, reasonable, level-headed response and yet you decided to totally (maybe deliberately) misunderstand me one more time. So be it. I get it now, there is no pleasing you. You just have to be right! You see anything I say as a desire to want to change the SCD. Not as a willingness to follow the diet as closely as possible (within my own physical limitations) while wanting to acquire the best information possible on how to do so. You are like my Asperger's daughter - always seeing the negative side of every conversation. Never concentrating on how the positive can be explored I have explained myself until I am blue in the face and you still don't seem to get it. That's your issue. I guess it isn't all right to you that people have more than one physical affliction that they have to work around and you are only willing to address the one that can be corrected by the strictest interpretation of the SCD. Well, that's just being cruel to your fellow human being. You know, I understand Patti's comments about other people on the list being at their wit's end and having a 1000 other things to deal with. Interestingly, I'm one of them. I won't list my own ailments - no one cares. I won't talk about how much care my daughter needs on a daily basis, or my disabled husband or how much money we don't have...opps, already did. The fact of the matter is that anyone who comes to this list is already overburdened because if even one person in their family has health problems bad enough for them to seek this level of assistance - the family is already suffering at a structural level. For me to want the best level of support available and have you say - gee, sorry, not available to you because you physically cannot adhere to this trademarked diet - is a slap in the face to my humanity. But, you are so full of your righteous indignation that you just don't even see that. All I'm wanting to do is heal, all you're wanting to do is protect something that is not flesh and bone. Which, in all reality is more importantf? Maybe providing suggestions to someone who has a genuine need, or quoting pages from a book? Deciding that I might want to drink Diet Coke as a way to stay hydrated - are you really that delusional? Jazz -- Re: rooibos It appears you want the diet changed to your personal requirements and possibly be made widely available. ( An example would be if you decided you can tolerate Diet Coke for hydration, something we can have once in a while but not everyday.) Patti explained quite succinctly why that cannot happen. There are other lists that will not take such a strict view. and you can belong to more than one list if you still want to be here with the herd :-). All this wrangling is causing aggravation that isn't helping you. You have to weigh if the majority of SCD protocols stand to benefit you and make that your basis for continuing. But expecting the diet istelf to be modified for all to your specifications is unreasonabkle and untenable in my opinion. You know what this reminds me of? We have a bylaw here that people can't ride bicycles on the sidewalk. But they do. And when you ask them not to they say, " Do you want me to ride in the street and get killed? " Carol F.
