Guest guest
Digestive Welllness is now run by a different person than in the past. The former manager used to sell a product that was controversial but now the site is run by her daughter,Esther. Esther is very cooperative and tries very hard to listen to our concerns. All the food there are SCD legal but not all of it might be appropriate for beginners. Please wait until there is more gut healing before trying most of the prepared foods. Do try to make your own SCD food,it is so easy and fun. Making cookies together is a great way to teach your child social and other skills. I also want to clarify that Digestive Welllness has always been very careful to make sure that their products do not contain any hidden illegal ingredients. I just got this message from Esther: Hi Mimi, I realized that on the pecanbread.com mailing list they were discussing about the dates used in Larabars. Digestive Wellness goes through every ingredient, and we obviously checked on the dates before we declared them as SCD legal (with Sheila's authorization). I worked on the Larabar project for about 2 weeks going back and fourth from Sheila to Larabar company, making sure that all the ingredients are perfectly ok. When we starting selling these bars they used only California dates. Now they use US and some imported dates - I think from Canada, but only dates that have nothing added to them. SCD is suspicious that dates might have a starch added to them to prevent them from clumping. Larabar company is very careful with it, and uses only companies that add NOTHING to their dates - they're very careful with this . Hope this is clear. We're here to help our fellow SCD'ers with the diet - offering various foods - that's what we're here for, and we would never sell anything that wasn't checked to make sure that every tiny bit of the product is 100% ok for those following SCD.
