What has been all of your experiences with the hair loss after

surgery?

How much hair do you actually lose?

Do you become bald for a while?

Is the hair loss all over the body?

Thanks to all,

o

It grows back. I have always lost hair after surgery under

a general anesthetic. I've been losing hair since about a

month after the MGB and it got a lot worse the third month

and into the 4th month. I lose about 20-30 or so hairs every

time I brush my hair. My hair is very long so it looks like

a pretty good-sized handful. If I run my hand through my

hair, I will always have several strands on my fingers.

I find strands of hair everywhere, but not big clumps of

hair or anything like that, falling out at once.

It has gotten thin on top; however, I have a lot of

new short hairs, so it is growing back. It's annoying and

I hope it stops soon, but it seems to be growing back, so

I guess just waiting will take care of it.

Kind regards,

o-

I am 3 1/2 months post-op ang have recently started losing hair. It

seems like sooooooo much. However, I have lost 65 lbs in 3 months.

I am not complaining. I am hoping that it does not last forever, but

hey, I can wear a wig- right??? At this point in your life, don't

worry about the " small " stuff. Focus on the how greatyou are going

to feel after the surgery, and how healthy you are going to become!!

The hair will grow back!!!

Good Luck-

  • 3 weeks later...

Okay, I've calmed down some since I first heard all the hair loss talk... I

think I can tell you all something that I know from experience (aka being a

hairdresser since 1966). I noticed anytime one of my clinics had started some

extreme form of dieting they had some hair loss.

Reasoning: like a plant when you take it out in the middle of winter, from a

nice cozy warm home, the leaves will fall off. Your poor little plant is in

shock.. well, that works the same for you poor little hair! It is use to the way

you eat, and nourish yourself, you change that ... well it shocks the crap out

of your hair, and it falls right out. No kidding.

Yes, I must add it will come back once it either gets use to your new form of

diet, or once you start eating using old habits.

Whew... got that out. I feel better now.. bring on the wigs!! hahaha
