There are certain signs a GI doc would look for. Although they can be quite

difficult sometimes to diagnose. If the person is up itching their butt @

night, that would be the first clue. If it is suspected, wait until the

middle of the night, and use a piece of tape to transfer them from the butt

to the tape. I would look closely under a light to see if there are any. You

would want to wash hands extremely well and often as the eggs can get under

the nails while itching, doing the tape trick, wiping ect. They look almost

like a piece of light colored thread.

My daughter's GI doc suspected them and while he did scopes, he saw them. He

did do a physical type of test but, the lab said " no pinworms " . Since he saw

them himself, he gave us an anti-worm treatment anyway. She had wicked

die-off due to these parasites and I saw them in her pullup. Nasty, wet,

squishy pearls.

1 out of every 3 or 4 americans have parasites whether they have any other

problems or not. Her dad and I were both treated also @ the same time due to

fear of reinfestation. We didn't have any die-off. I'm assuming we didn't

have worms. I hope this helps a little bit. Jenn & K

Hi Michele,

I will tell you what I know.

There are stool tests that a doctor or lab has to preform to check for

this. The CDSA is one of the most comprehensive ones.

Our test came out negative, even though they were evident. I don't really

like testing. I am one who will definitely go by symptoms as per our GI doc

before trusting any test. Jenn & K
