Guest guest
Lucy, No it wouldn't be obstructive in the bowels. That is another problem entirely. The obstructions with pancreatitis are in the bilary ducts going to the gallbladder or in the main pancreatic duct within the pancreas. Have they ever done any imaging studies on you, like an ultrasound or a CT-scan? Those types of radiology procedures are what the doctors usually start with when they want to determine what is wrong with the pancreas. They are looking for either obstruction in the ducts, evidence of calcification in the pancreas, or pseudocysts. Often if they can't see anything abnormal with those films, they proceed to do MRI's, MRCP's or an ERCP. These are all more sophisticated radiology or endoscopic procedures that can see what the problem is that's causing the pancreatitis. Have any of these tests been done on you? In regard to your constipation, this may likely be caused by the narcotics that are in your system, all the narcotics that we take do cause constipation and most of us have to take some form of laxative or fiber supplement to help avoid it. I take Miralax for mine. I tried all the other forms first, Colace, Senecot, Metameucil, Benefiber, stool softners, etc., and none of them worked very well for me. The Miralax, which is a prescribed laxative, has been a life saver for me. I don't have to use it daily, usually about three times a week is more than enough to keep my bowels regular. Have you tried this one? With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep.
