You should be able to get an appointment for a consult within a week or so as well as schedule the ERCP the day after your consultation (I made my own appointment). He can almost diagnose someone based on your history, med records, and symptoms. He tells it like it is and he doesn't take any crap from other doctors who don't know what they are talking about . I had a local GI tell me I was just menopausal and also a teaching University GI tell me I was just fine after an EUS - she told me no way could I have SOD or I would be on the floor doubled over in pain. Well, when I saw Dr. Lehman he saw my med records that I did have documented Acute Pancreatitis once - and the other 4 attacks were not documented - based on that and the symptoms I described - he diagnosed me with either Chronic Pancreatitis and/or SOD. He told me he strongly disagreed with the teaching University GI who said that I couldn't have SOD or CP. We decided together not to do the ERCP even though I was scheduled for one as I wanted to try a more conservative approach and I didn't want to cause another attack of Pancreatitis. He wrote a letter to my physician that he believed I had CP and or SOD and to treat me for pain. I don't take pain meds everyday maybe every two days (my pain waxes and wanes )or so and I don't have any nausea - so I am trying to avoid an ERCP unless my pain accelerates.
