Between that and being in pain most nights...I know coffee drinking is not so

good for you...but what are the indications or contraindications in cp?

,

Actually, caffiene is considered to be harmful for people with chronic

pancreatitis, or those who suffer from pain. My pain management doctor

suggested that I cut all caffiene consumption from my diet, not only coffee, but

all of the diet Pepsi's that I normally drink, too. He said if I could stop all

of it I'd

see a decrease in my pain levels.

I've researched to find a reason for this restriction, and have come across

several pancreatitis sites that say no caffiene and no alcohol. We know why

alcohol is forbidden, but the reasoning for no caffiene is more illusive. I do

know that the side effects of high caffiene consumption include a fast heart

rate, restlessness, depression, anxiety, nausea and vomiting, tremors and

difficulty sleeping. This may be reason enough to quit. For persons suffering

from arthritis pain, research has shown that patients who stopped all caffiene

injestion had significant reductions in their pain.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to break the habit, and still have my two

cups of morning coffee, along with one or two diet soft drinks each day. I

should try to be stronger and learn to substitute with decaffienated products,

but they just don't taste the same.

Just thought you might like to know that caffiene actually is restricted.

With love, hope and prayers,
