This week I am making a list of food to bring on our trip from NC to TX, so that

I can buy whatever groceries I need to make all of the food in advance. I'd

love any suggestions that you have for food that travels well. We will be four

months on scd the day we leave, Sept. 1st. We can do meats, dairy, nut butters

and flours, and cooked fruits and vegies. No raw stuff yet. We cannot do eggs.

I will be taking 4 qts. of yogurt, individual bottles of Welch's 100% juice, a

gallon of cider, and I'll slice up a brick or two of cheese as well. If anyone

can give me ideas on what foods I can make that travel well, I would love that.

Fortunately, my parents arrive this weekend, and my mom was raised a farm girl.

She is an amazing help. She makes all of our apple and tomato sauce, garlic

powder, ect. She'll be happy to help with whatever cooking needs to be done for

the trip. Thanks for your ideas.

SCD crackers are the best on trips as they don't need any kind of refrigeration.

Meleah,

Here are some suggestions. I hope that others will offer more.

I will give items that do not require cooking ahead of time:

Olives, the kind from the HFS that do not contain any additives or filing.

Avocadoes.

Bananas (very ripe).

Legal cheese.

Mimi,

If iel is not yet to the raw fruits and vegies, should we try olives?

I know that he likes them from his pre-scd days, but I tried giving him

unpealed, raw fruits a few weeks back. He was screaming and crying in the

night. When I pulled them, he stopped immediately. What do you think about

the olives in that case?

Thanks. I will try the cracker ecipes. Is any particular one a favorite?

Is there any certain recipe that doesn't crumble as easily as others might?

I personally like Kath's Cheesy crackers but it does have an egg in it so I am

not sure. There may be some at www.pecanbread.com for you that's eggless.

Charlene

You can make garlic powder by separating the whole head of garlic into

cloves. Peal them, and slice them thinly. Then, dry them on a low temp in

your oven or in a food dehydrater. Once they're dried, you can grind them

into powder in a food processer or blender, or coffee grinder.

Meleah,

You might need to delay feeding the olives.
