Guest guest
Hey to all, I went to see my Panc doctor on Monday and I had not so good news. My lab work showed I was having an acute panc attack (Lipase was double of what it should be). I am back on clear liquids and have to get my blood checked again next week. If it is normal then I have to have another ERCP. The doctor said that I will most definitely be admitted following the procedure. She said that is looks as though my Sphincter of Oddi is occluded again. Thinks that it may be scar tissue. When I called to check when to get my pain meds refilled (my doc told me when I get low to call)the RECEPTIONIST said (get this) Have you seen a pain management doctor because you are taking some pretty strong stuff? I wanted to shove the phone down her throat. I was really upset that she of all people would say something like that. I hate it when people who work at doctor offices with no medical degree can sit and tell me what I should take. My doctor fortunately understands my pain and what meds will help. She has me on Oxycontin 20mg and Oxycodone 5mg for breakthrough pain. I just wish for one day these people WHO THINK they know would have to put up with the severe pain, the nausea, the gas and bloating. Maybe then they would keep their SO CALLED PHARMACEUTICAL KNOWLEDGE to themselves. You know I work at an oncology clinic and I have all the sympathy in the world for these patients with cancer. I fill out disability forms and FMLA papers on our patients. So I totally understand how important it is to get these filled out as soon as possible. I have one patient who is a physician and she sent me a card for CHristmas thanking me for putting up with all the paperwork she needs filled out monthly. Right now she has reached her maximum on health insurance coverage and I heard some others in the office say how she should sell her house to get money to pay for her chemo. It really upset me for someone to say such a thing. Her home is all she has. Well I am ranting and raving so I will stop here. Thanks everyone Patty Jensen Corydon, IN
