Guest guest
Hi Sherry, You'll find the " stages " chart on the website, www.pecanbread.com , under " Food Preparation " ... just scroll down. There are nut yogurt recipes there on the website, too..... you probably already knew that. I've never made it myself, so can't comment on it's healing ability. Have you been giving an acidophilus/probiotic supplement all this time? I sure hope so... it's so essential to replace those bad gut bugs with good flora. I honestly think that the nut yogurt is pretty much just a delivery system for probiotics. It doesn't really have the same healing qualities of SCD goat milk yogurt, but it's certainly better than no yogurt at all. Almonds are a great source of calcium, too.... so that might be the preferred nut yogurt for you to use. Patti Re-intro and nut yogurt question Hi, I'm Sherry, mom to 17 Down Syndrome and Autism, SCD 3 years . I've been on nomail for quite awhile and decided I needed to be back here to learn about whatever is new and to pick your braIns:-) One wonderful thing that has happened is that has been able to wean completely off of 40mg of Prevacid per day after 4 years. She also no longer moans and groans all night due to GI pain. We had been hoping that this would reduce her malabsorbtion problems but as of last night we learned that her iron, B12, calcium and protein are still very low and we are supplementing with iron, cal and Vit D. These are problems that have been ongoing. She is on a good and varied diet but everything is pureed. I never did finish up with the most crucial ingredient of healing...yogurt. (alot of illness and chaos around here- long story). Anyway because she is casein free and allergic to milk I had planned to try the nut yogurt with her. It's been so long since I've been here I'm wondering if those of you who did use the nut yogurt have seen positive results and is there any new info I should be aware of before beginning? What other type of yogurts have those of you with no-milk diets been able to utilize? What sources do you use for calcium? Also is there still a location for the " unofficial " stages of the diet? We've remained in stage one as was so ill. Thanks so much Sherry in Florida
