Dear CF Mommy 21,

I don't know if this will help, but I have been through a similar

experience (years ago). I don't know what the situation is with your husband,

but

mine chose not bo be involved with his children at a very young age and I also

was on welfare for a period of time. At least we had some insurance that way.

CONGRATULATIONS for being in school!!!!!!!! That was the road I also chose

and you can do it. It is not easy being a single mom with sick kids and going

to school, but it CAN be done and it can be sooo worth it.

Have you got a support network? If you feel that you are in this alone,

try going to the Women's Center at your college. At my school, this

organization was a big help to nontraditional students (thats what they called

older and

single parents in my day).

PLEASE try to get some support through this trying time. Counselling

Office was very supporting while I was in college, both in helping to direct

what

I needed for classes and with helping to develop some support. I met other

single parents in school who also were supportive and knew ideas on how to

cope. I built life long lasting friendships with fellow students that have

helped

in later hard times.

In the state I live in, I accessed county housing to help with rent.

This also helped.

A lot of practical and hopefully some support. I don't know if this helps,

but I hope so. (By the way, I am now a professional who works with special

needs children. Love the job, hate the paperwork!!!! and have paid back the

system many times over. Pay it forward.) Do it for yourself and you children.

If your husband can heal and grow AND is a part of this journey, fantastic.

If not, you can be proud of what you accomplish. Hug your babies and enjoy

every moment. Each special needs condition has its own joys and heartache.

Lets

make the most of our joys.

Edi, mom to Cory w/cf and w/cf
