Guest guest
Joe, I talked to the doc on call also, and he suggested the same. He wants us to stop the Cipro through the weekend and see if the diarrhea gets better. I hope that it does, every time that she goes to the bathroom she just screams because she is in so much pain. I gave her some Tylenol so I hope that it helps. Let me know how Abby does without the Cipro and I will do the same. Thanks!!!!! He really thinks that the Tobi is what kills the Pa and said they are beginning to leave off the Cipro anyway. Because of Abby's good weight gains he doesn't think it is pancreatic and since none of our others have a virus he's doubtful it's that. So that's the route we're taking. Joe > Joe, > > Piper was started on Tobi and Cipro on Monday, and we are having the same problem! Her diarrhea is so loose it is like water, now her bottom is so raw that it is bleeding in places. I have a call in to the Pulmonologist on call, but haven't heard from them yet. On Monday night I took her to the ER where my husband is a nurse, because she was throwing up and had diarrhea and fever, I was afraid that she would dehydrate, so they started an IV and ran some fluid in her, they really thought that it was just a stomach virus since my son had the same thing. Well, my son is better, and it seems that Piper's diarrhea is worse. Hopefully the Pulm. on call will call us back soon, so I can let you know what he says. I hope that Abby is better soon!!! > > > Katy > Mom to Austin 4 no CF & Piper 16 months w/CF > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Joe, Piper's birthday is July 12, and it is funny how they were both put on Tobi & Cipro at about the same time, and now both have diarrhea. I hope that they both get better soon!! Katy mom to Austin 4 no CF & Piper 16 months w/CF Joe wrote: Will do. Abby is not raw but when ours get that way Kathy lets them sit in a warm tub for awhile, pats them dry then applies Desitin. I hope Piper gets better and we'll be in touch. Our girls are about the same age and seem to be going through some similiar things. Abby's b-day is Aug. 7th. Guest guest
Just so you both know, when gets cipro diarrhea, it takes a few days for it to work out of her system. So you may still want to try the children's acidopholus, or at least get them eating yogurt. Calendula cream or gel (you can get it at the health food store with the acidopholus) put on before desitin or balmex, always helped 's raw bottom go away. Pampers used to make " rash guard " wipes and they were the only ones that didn't REALLY hurt her when we cleaned her off. This is one med that I really try to keep her off of. It is very harsh on the digestive system. I hope both girls are feeling bettter soon. Mom of 5 with CF and one on the way Re: Cipro/Diarreah? - Katy Will do.
