I would also like to talk with someone who has done this and ask a few questions myself. Regarding the dumping syndrome and lingering pain. I hope this answers a few questions but dont hesitate to write me Thanks everyone, Hi , I had the TP/ICT December 2000. I chose to have the surgery since my life was sickness constantly. Also I made my decision to have the surgery because I knew that with each day that passed more and more of my islet cells were being destroyed. I didn't want to take a chance that I would become diabetic and it would be too late for me to have my pancreas removed and the islets transplanted. I don't have any pancreas pain now or dumping. Are you taking enough enzymes? I take two viokase 16 with meals. One with a snack. Have you had any previous surgeries to your pancreas? I know some people have pain after the TP/ICT if they had a previous surgery to their pancreas. I didn't have any surgeries to my pancreas before the TP. Dr. Sutherland is a wonderful doctor. I will always love him for performing the surgery on me that took away the awful way I had to live my life with my sick pancreas. He is such a kind, down to earth doctor. I have to be careful with certain medications and abstain from eating fruit peelings and nuts. I have had five major surgeries to my belly which sometimes causes a blockage in my intestines. Four of the surgeries were to my intestines and bowels. The surgeries left behind so much scar tissue and nerve damage which damaged the motility of my intestines. Thus, some times blockages occur. Over all I highly recommend the surgery. I know that it saved my life. Pancreatitis just gets worse not better as I have experienced and seen. I hope your bowels and pain improve very soon . I am sure there is something that can be done for the dumping. Keep me posted about your condition. I am wishing you well. Shirley
