Hi all

I hope that this is something that might help with your pain and it has fewer side affects. Some have tried them and seems to be working for them.

Hi Vicki. Yes, thanks, spasms and/or spasticity. Glad to hear amantadine has worked for you. Any side effects from drug? Have u ever tried Provigil (modafinil) for fatigue? Also, wondering what kind of fatigue do u have, does it comes cycles during day, or week...is it more cognitive then physical, does it turn on like a switch or slowly induced, etc...Just curious, hope u dont mind...

Best,

Hi, Kay. I'm so glad to hear Clonidine has been working for you. And better yet, w/ less side effects. I also read that Butox is being prescribed for spasms, spasticity now. It's that anti-wrinkle med. I'm sure u've heard about it in the news. I've had tm for 1 year now myself, and am still seeing a neuro. I have spasticity in my left leg only. I read there are two types of spasticity, in flexor & in extensor spasticity, not sure which I suffer from, but will find out next visit to neuro. I'm glad to hear you have such a great relationship w/ your GP & pain specialist, it's not easy to find docs w/ whom you can really click. Keep me posted on how well u do w/ Clonidine, as it's fairly novel. Loved Auckland & Rotorua, when I was down there years ago. Would love to have some of that Maori Smoked Eel, & try that Kiwi wine again. lol

Regards,

Hi ,

I have had TM for over eight years now and don’t see my neurologist unless something new happens or I want to see him. My own GP and my pain specialist manage my care well. I had made the choice about 18 mths ago to come off all pain meds as I felt the side effects far outweighed any help I was getting for them. On Monday I had gone with a friend to a specialist appointment she had, as a support and I happened to see my pain specialist while I was there. He mentioned Clonidine and suggested it may help, he told me to get my GP to write a script which he did and let him know how I got on. I have a very good relationship with my GP, pain specialist and neurologist and each one listens to what I say and respects my views on how I want my conditions managed. I know that I have been lucky when I read how some on the list have been treated. Although I have only been on Clonidine since Monday I’m noticing a real reduction in spasms and none of the side effects I had with Baclofen which made me so dopey and still didn’t take away the spasms.

Regards…Kay
