Guest guest
It's technically illegal although there was a recent discussion on the list about decaf that is Swiss water processed. I don't believe that an agreement was reached that this type of decaf is legal, but I know that some people do use it. I don't know what brands use this process. Guest guest
I use caffeinated but put in decaf for the person who couldn't drink caffeine. But yes, I was under the impression that Swiss water process decaf is legal, since someone posted that it is made decaf by a process that uses water ONLY. Are > there any warm drinks one can have that isn't regular coffee or tea? > > Thanks, Michele Michele, Here is a SCD recipe for mulled apple cider. It's very warming on a chilly night.. If this recipe has too many steps I've included a simpler recipe I found online. From: http://www.scdrecipe.com/recipes.html MULLED CIDER WITH PINEAPPLE Ingredients 8 cups apple cider 1 teaspoon whole cloves 2 cups pineapple juice 1/2 lemon (juice) 2 teaspoons raisins or currants 2 teaspoons honey 1 large orange, sliced into rounds 1 large fresh pineapple 2 cinnamon sticks, broken Instructions 1. Peel pineapple and cut into 10 wedges 2. Combine all ingredients except pineapple wedges. Simmer combined ingredients over medium-high heat for 15 minutes. 3. Pour into pre-warmed mugs or transfer to slow cooker set on low. 4. Garnish each serving with pineapple wedges. 5. Per cup: 0 gm. fat, 0 mg. cholesterol, 1 gm. protein, 52 calories, 13 gm. carbohydrate, 40 mg. sodium. Hope you enjoy! Debbie ++ This is one of the many recipes that I got when I searched for mulled cider. As you can see it can be adapted easily. There were many simpler than this and more complicated Hot Mulled Cider 1/2 cup Brown sugar FOR SCD USE HONEY 1 dash Salt 2 quarts Apple Cider 1 teaspoon Whole allspice 1 teaspoon Whole cloves 1 three-inch stick cinnamon 1 dash Nutmeg Combine sugar, salt, and cider. Tie spices in cheese cloth. Add to cider. Slowly bring to a boil. Cover and simmer 20 minutes. Remove spices. Serve hot with orange slice floaters and cinnamon stick.
