Guest guest
Hi , While I don't have an answer for you (I wish I did) I did want to ask why you choose this route. Was there another alternative for you? I do remember it taking quite some time...at least 3-4 weeks before I felt ok. But not usually pain free continuously. Stenting was offered to me but in a different way. I was to do stenting every 3 weeks for a year. As in... put one in, then 3 weeks later, take it. Then 3 weeks after that put another in and 3 weeks later, take it out. I was supposed to have it done this way for a year and then maybe every other month for the next year. Then every 3 or 4 months for the year after that until I eventually got to only 1 time a year. All in hopes of making the duct scar in an open position. My specialist said you can't leave it in for longer than that unless you had pancreatic cancer. And it doesn't come out on it's own. And you are talking about seeing if it left the pancreatic duct. Do you mean as in traveling and finding it's way out of your body without the need of another ERCP? And how many of these are you doing in hopes of it helping? I turned this down because of the repeated ERCP's and frequency of it all. I didn't want a pancreatic attack and hospitalization every 2 weeks. Have you had any luck with it besides this one being troublesome? I did do stenting at one point and while it gave me a pancreatic attack everytime, I did eventually find some relief from it, but not enough for me to give up all the time it was going to require away from my family and child. krgg106 wrote: >Hi all, can anyone tell me approximately how long it takes to >recover from pancreatic stenting and pancreatic sphincterotomy??? >It has been almost 3 weeks and I have only had 3 days which I did >not have to take pain meds.
