Guest guest
Hi , I also put on 50 pounds from the Prednisone and I have never struggled with weight problems before this. It is very hard on the self esteem. Many people that I see whom I have not seen since becoming sick, don't even recognize me. Dr. Buckner told me I won't be able to lose the weight until I get below 20 mgs. of Prednisone, so don't even worry about it until then. It is difficult to tell the difference between pain types when you have more than one type of autoimmune disease. Because mine should all respond to the same medications, I just keep track of where the pains are and report them to my doctor. I leave it up to her to sort it out! Are your meds different, based on which type of pain it is? I know that this can all be overwhelming in the first year, as I am still in that time period, also. Hang in there! The emotional ups and downs for me have been pretty extreme at times, as I tend to be very " black and white " in my thinking and when I started to feel better for a while, I was devastated when I felt worse again. I've learned that it will be up and down for a while and to expect that I can't rely on anything staying the same. That helps me be a little more flexible. Well, enough rambling. I guess I just wanted to encourage you and to share my experiences as a " newbie " to this disease. Take care! M
