Guest guest
Hi- I've been reading all of your posts for a few months now. I feel like I know everyone. I have been approved for surgery and want to schedule for the week of the 19th but I'm a self pay and I'm still waiting for a cashed in 401k check to arrive. If I can't get in that week then I will try for the 25th or the following week. I have the option of having it done at or Durham. Is there some preference that someone post op might have between the two? I'm really looking forward to meeting some of you face to face when we go to clinic. I have been following the scares on the site. It did shake me up a bit a few weeks ago but was actually good because it caused me to research again what I already knew. I also have to say that I feel very comforted by Dr. R's posts and just knowing that he is monitering whats going on. My name is McCallie I just turned 39 and weigh 298. I married my high school sweetheart and just had my 7th baby 8 months ago. Everything in my life is so perfect except for me and I'm miserable because of my weight and you know what they say " If momma ain't happy then nobody's happy " . This surgery just may change 9 lives not just one: ) M.
Guest guest
Hi , First of all congrats on the new baby! I can give you some info on the vs. Durham issue even though I'm having surgery Oct. 12 because I am self pay and just went through that whole thing. You can request where you want the surgery but its really a decision Dr. R should make for you. I believe his criteria is that you have to be under 40 years old and less than 300 lbs to be at . He does make some exceptions if you have few co-morbitities. These are the major differences I've gathered from post-ops. - an outpatient center with 8-10 beds, can be cheaper (which is helpful if your a self pay, although some Durhamites have paid less),if you have a family member who wants to stay over they will put in a bed and feed them. Durham - a hospital, better trauma equipment in case of emergency, family member can stay in a recliner Bottom line is that although I wanted , I wanted to be sure Dr. R was comfortable with the choice. His comfort is more important than mine!! And I want him happy, happy, happy LOL. Hope this helped in Atlanta " Dancing in 5 days " MGB 40 -- In MiniGastricBypass (AT) egroups (DOT) com, jlcallie@h... wrote: > Hi- I've been reading all of your posts for a few months now.
