Tobi treatment time

The first time Abby had Tobi was in the hospital. They gave her the

adult mouthpiece and let her gnaw on it through the treatment. It

went by pretty fast - 10-15min. Then when we had to do it at home

the first time they told us to use a mask in order to get it in the

nose also. Said the RT's shouldn't have been using the mouthpiece.

So with the mask it was taking abut 27 min. Then someone told us to

take off the blue rubber valve from the cap. This made it go

faster. Then when we got the fish mask the directions said to

completely remove the cap from the neb. Now it only takes 12 minutes.

I am concerned that it might be going too fast. If anyone knows

anything about this please advise.

I sit Abby on my right knee facing the TV. I put my arms around her

with the neb in my left hand and hold her close to me pinning her

arms against her body. I hold her head tight against my cheek and

whisper and softly sing songs in her ear while holding the mask over

her face. She can't move a muscle except for her legs which are

kicking wildly. However they are unable to connect with anything and

are swinging free. It took two treatments like this until she

realized it wasn't so bad and the fight isn't worth it. When she

started being good with it we all began clapping for her after it's

over. She'll the get the mask and sniff inside it to get us to give

her another hand. Sorry, don't want to rub it in. Just kidding.

I'll pay for that tonight probably - she'll throw another tyrade. So

far so good, though.
