Dear Colleagues,

Here is a link to a recently released PAL which announces several changes to

the UDS Manual. In particular I would like to bring to your attention the

first bullet in the PAL which provides a revised definition of agriculture.

The previous language in the UDS Manual which was an interpretation of the

statutory

definition has been removed and is replaced with the exact statutory

language.

This is an important step towards clarifying a standard understanding

of the types of agricultural tasks that constitute agricultural work for

purposes of providing care to migratory and seasonal agricultural workers.

Next steps will include providing grantees with an operational

interpretation that will clarify and facilitate the intake and reporting

process.

Thank you for your assistance in bringing this need to the attention of the

Bureau and we look forward to continue to work with you on clarification.

I welcome your comments on how this change might help you to increase access

to care in your communities. Please direct your questions, comments and any

recommendations you might have to me.
