Hi,

My son Collin has been in his DOC band since Jan. 23rd. He is on his second

one, which is good until Sept. 1st. Although his head shape has improved

greatly in the time he's been wearing the band, I have not seem improvement in

the past month or so and his head growth has really slowed down as well (he

turned a year on June 13th). He has/had plagio on his right side and his head

has rounded out nicely except for the part right behind his ear. Since the

opening of the band is directly over the spot, I can't imagine how there would

ever be able to have growth in that spot even though the area does get shaved

out. The band is still up against the head and especially when he is sleeping

on it. I'm starting worry that maybe the band is actually not allowing that

part to fill in. I know it might be all the correction we are going to get

anyway and of course his head is never going to be perfect, but is it possible

that the band is doing more harm than good? Cranial Tech. recommend that we

keep the band on the full 16 weeks, but I'm starting to second guess

them.....any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Meredith

I think if the band is loose enough throughout the rest of the day and he's not

getting any red spots, it should be fitting just fine and not doing any harm. As

long as there is still foam to shave out, it's safe to keep him in it the full

16 weeks. My son wore both of his for the full time and probably didn't get too

much if any correction for the last month or so, but it didn't do any harm

either.
