I don't believe I've found a weight loss surgery that will GUARANTEE results, and if you follow this list, you'll notice that everyone seems to lose weight, but at different rates. I'm a slow loser - while one of my surgery mates is losing much more quickly. There are a number of factors involved, including age, sex, and what sort of postop diet and exercise you follow. I've heard recently about a couple of people who haven't lost much a year out of surgery, and Dr. Rutledge has offered to revise their surgeries - enabling them to begin losing weight again. Still others report losing slowly in the first year, and then continuing to lose up to 24 months after surgery, without the revision. But again - I don't know of ANY procedure that guarantees results. The reason we've all had this surgery is because a) so many people have done well with weight loss, and Dr. Rutledge is a very fine, safe surgeon. Please do check out other procedures and surgeons' websites, before making your decision. Best wishes, Blair 8/9/00 MGB
