I thought I'd throw my two cents in, though you have already gotten some

really good answers to your questions. I started with RUQ pain, the first

time I had elevated White count, elevated lipase and amylase, fevers,

vomiting, and I was hospitalized for 5 days with antibiotics, and lots of

tests. They did exploratory surgery, found a ruptured ovarian cyst and

blamed everything on that, and sent me home. I felt better, but a month

later, more pain, back in the hospital...sonogram of my gall bladder, full

of stones and sludge..took it out. Got better, but monthly for the next few

months I would get horrible pain out of nowhere, it would last an hour or

two, and then pass. One of the times I went to the hospital and had

elevated liver enzymes, and white count. I think that was the last time

they were elevated. I had an ERCP a year later, and my duct (pancreatic, I

think) was clogged up, and they put in a stent and after a few days of AP

they sent me home. Pain a little better...and another stent a year later,

but not much difference in the pain.

I still have pretty bad pain every day. I see a pain doctor and take lots

of pain medication, but most tests don't show anything. When I was last

hospitalized they did lots of tests to rule out chronic pancreatitis, and

when I questioned the doctor at 's Hopkins that did my stenting as to

them ruling out pancreatitis, he said, I saw your pancreas, I was in your

ducts, I saw them dilated etc...you definitely have it, even if your blood

work doesn't show it. But it sure would be more convincing to my doctors if

something did show up. I won't got to my local ER because they tend to

question your pain if something doesn't show up in the blood work...

So, that's my two cents worth, hope it helps.

Robin
