Dear , loved the jokes!

Yea know I've known several people including a dear cousin who quit smoking

and all of a sudden got these problems. My cousin quit 5 years ago and now

his kidneys are failing, he's on chemo and going to several doctors including

Mayo.

I wonder if you start smoking young your body just gets used to it and

adjusts then you quit and causes a shock to the system. Just my opinion. Love

ya...Sue M

Hi You, well where do I start. The left ear is pugged and can't hear much.

The right ear which has been peiferataed for years is hurting so I'm kind of

" spacy. " Well not kind of but totally. My dermatitis on legs and feet just

won't get better. I feel very ugly and scared up. I have either Cronhs or

irirated bowel sydrom. Taking Pepto or Imodium sometimes Sleep is not good

unless I take Tylenol PM.

Going to have to deal with all this next week but without insurance I put it

off as long as possible. Thank you for askin....Sue M

I agree with you Liz, just wish I had done this earlier. But it is never too

late so they tell me. I feel so lucky that my airways are still in great

shape and my lungs too.

This may sound really strange, but what got me to quit was the commercial on

TV where the baby walks right through the grandpa because he was really dead.

I just couldn't do that to my grandchildren. Now why did I do it to my

children??? Well, the past is the past and I will continue on just one day at

a time. Thanks for all or your encouragement.

hugs

I think the damage has been done before you stop! I

thought it was most unfair that I smoked heavily for

years. (I had my first cigarette on my 5th birthday -

a friend of my fathers thought it would put us all off

for life!!!; I finally quit in 1985 age 42; and THEN

I started getting breathing problems, however deep in

my heart I know if I had still been smoking when I was

admitted to hospital in 1988, I might not have made

it!!!

Goodness knows it is not easy to stop, but it is one

of the best things you can do for your health! Love, Liz

Hi Everyone :-)

As long as we're talking about smoking, I had to add my two cents.

Since I came down with these " lovely " diseases I have been sooooo

sensitive to cigarette smoke, many perfumes, and just about anything

else with an odor, both good and bad. These things go directly to my

cough sensor and send me into coughing fits/bronchospasms.

For my hospital stay I had my doctor actually put on my chart that I

could not be around anyone wearing perfumes, including nurses, or

anyone who smoked any time during the day, as even though they were

not smoking around me just the smoke on their clothes would send me

coughing.

So.....for all of us out here who can't handle smoke....please try to

quit :-) but mainly for the sake of your own health. You will be

glad you did. I hope to see everyone at the next RP reunion in

Oregon (next year??) and hopefully we'll all be smoke-free by then.

Can we do it?

(end of soap-box.....I love you guys!!)

Sending many hugs,

Connie H
