Guest guest
Dear Trish, Breath..... we too had many sensitivities in the beginning that have vanished. It was not fun when we had them. Until SCD nothing else worked. We tried all sort of ways of eating. Our poor daughter was becoming " allergic " to everything. I joked that we would have to feed our daughter dirt...and this wouldn't have even worked...because then the heavy metals would get her! lol!! Not funny when you are there though. Many days I just felt like giving up. Many tears. Her autism paralyzed me. Today she is doing so well. WE are SCD keepers. Elaine says to try again in a week. You may be surprised that his intestines have healed enough for this problem to vanish. Be persistent....go slow....this is a marathon and not a race. Keep hope! Make sure everything is peeled and cooked too. This helps to break down the food so that we can digest it better in the beginning. A pain, but truly needed. I am assuming that you did introductory for two days...make sure that you are adhering to the principles in the book. 100% adherence to SCD will help your child to grow out of some of these strange sensitivities. Make sure that he is getting no hidden illegals. These small infractions can surprisingly keep the vicious cycle going. Also make sure that he is getting the probiotics and the acidophilus some how. We where surprisingly able to tolerate the goat yogurt. This will help his gut to heal and if he is like us will help him to be able to eat a greater variety of SCD legal foods sooner. Today she can eat every SCD food choice with the exception of beans, peanuts, whole nuts, cooked honey (candy), and too much raw fruit or vegetables will still get our daughter sick. When we came she had phenol/ salicylate sensitivity (which can cause red ears, chest and cheeks) and truly could not tolerate much since all food has phenol in it! Since all food has phenols in them it is impossible to cut them all out without truly starving...try to trust and keep going. If it does not cause anyphalaxis...and it is easy to digest and a beginner food try it. Yet, it may be helpful to use this list as a guide. It will tell you what foods are higher in salicylates....if you are like us...before long you will not need this list. Eating SCD " fanatically " the gut heals fast. Here is the list: http://users.bigpond.net.au/allergydietitian/fi/sal.html<http://users.bigpond.ne\ t.au/allergydietitian/fi/sal.html> Like us you may be lucky and he will heal out of this problem. We did not use the enzymes for this either. SCD alone took care of this. Within two to three short months. Hang in there! Guest guest
Wow! Thank you so much for telling me to breathe! I needed that. His autism about crushes me at times and it did crush me when I first found out. Then when I found he had so many sensitivities to foods, that made it even worse. He was on gluten free grains for a whole year before I found out about the SCD diet. I am trying fanatically to do 100% with the SCD diet. He's getting the homemade goat yogurt too and the acidophilus(2 capsules a day). We are using the enzymes simply because we were using them before he started the SCD diet. I have seen that he is doing much better as long as he's not sensitive to a certain food. Now, we know within a day if a new food bothers him. I think he is sensitive to phenols and salicylate foods. His last IGG blood test came back just HORRIBLE, that's when I knew we were going to have to try something different. His guts just weren't healing the way they should. I will definately print off that list! Trish > > Dear Trish, > > Breath..... we too had many sensitivities in the beginning that have vanished. It was not fun when we had them. Guest guest
, On SCD, goat milk would need to be made into our 24 hour yogurt.... they could not drink it as regular fluid milk. Please read the book Breaking the Vicious Cycle, and try to read as much as you can of the website, www.pecanbread.com before making a decision to start SCD. There are a number of yeast control measures... enzymes and supplements, that can be used on SCD. Patti Re: Bad reactions to carrots too! I have so many issues with my twins they are 7 w/ low functioning autism i need so much help....they r on c & g free diet is goat milk ok?..i just got the book..there diet sensitrivity test were done 2yrs ago...do i continue or take a new one ..it is tough with 2 boys and different issues...we are also doing the son-rise program at home...dan dr. things are better but yeast is high.
