Hello, ...

I read your e-mail and was somewhat puzzled about the one year waiting

list....I am passing on the phone numbers that Heidi gave to me back in

April....Heidi instructed me to tell them that I have RP and that I need

to see the doctor for further evaluation & treatment. Heidi said that

she got her husband, Don, an appointment within1 week!.

I'll be leaving for Mayo Clinic next week....I called and referred myself

back in April for a July appointment. I guess I called too early because

I was informed that they schedule only up to 2 months in advance.

Mayo rhematology appointment coordinators, , M-F, 8-5 central

time. I was informed that Dr. Michet and Dr. Luthra are rheumys with

specialty interests in RP

Your doctor can refer you by calling the 1- Referring

Physician Service as well

Check out their web sites @

Best wishes and Aloha!

Y'all are so helpful to me...i hope i am able to return the kindness

sometime! Hope, Prayers and sunny thoughts to you all!

I found out on Monday that my trip to the Mayo Clinic is about a year in

the future! Some waiting list! SOO, my PCP has made an apptmnt for me at

Iowa City with Dr. Ashman (a Rheumy) on July 26th! (this year ;

)) We'll see if he agrees with my ENT's diagnosis of RP.

Anyone know of Iowa City or Dr. Ashman?

I've seen 3 rheumy in the Des Moines/Ames area in the last 7 years...none

of them i would care to go back to! Anyone out there in my area that

knows someone they like?

Love, Sunshine

, thank you for all the info. I have it printed and ready

to mail to my PCP along with the new brochure! I will also try

calling Mayo Clinic on my own...we'll see what happens?!?! PCP

should get my info by Tuesday and at lunch-time tomorrow I will call

the 800# at Mayo AND take a couple of brochures to my ENT.

Bob, sounds like you and I are in the same boat...my ENT is 100%

sure i have RP, but the Rheumy says NO RP based on a CATscan that

shows no scarring. My symptoms are hoarse voice, throat pain, middle

ear-ache and more recently chest pain & very dry eyes. The ENT has

examined me while having a flare, but the Rheumy examined me while i

was o.k. Trying to get a second opinion has not been fun....but i

have an appointment at Iowa City in two weeks!

Thank you to all the POWERS-That-be for the great brochures!

Glad to hear the girls are doing better,

Love, Sunshine

P.S. is my husband...e-mail is set up in his name. He is THE

greatest...my BEST friend! We celebrate our 28th year together on

Wednesday.
