Hi ,

I have BCBS, and Nina's band was covered. I am not sure what your son's history is and that may make a difference. She was 13-14 months when we got hers, and she will most likely need two of them so I am hoping they cover the second one as well. Check with the place you are going through for the band. We go to Cranial Tech, and they were very helpful with getting the right forms and letters submitted right away so the approval process went quickly. They included a form to be filled out by the doctor in addition to the prescription and a repositioning letter from us. Did you submit either of those yet?

Hi all,My son is 8 months old, using the DOB. Me and my husband have paid for the treatment, and we filed a claim for reimbursement from our insurance company -Blue Cross Blue Shield. We were denied the claim, and we are considering to send an appeal. Has anyone have experience with BCBS concerning this? Any luck? I just would like to know the odds, to decide whether it is worth the effort. I appreciate any suggestions, comments, and support.

Hi Nina,

thanks for your help. We are also treating our son at Cranial Tech. and they sent us some information about filing the claim. We sent all the information that we got from CT to BCBS, however, we were denied. We did send the referral from the doctor, but not a form filled out by him. Do you know whether the severity of the plagiocephaly is a factor when determining whether they will cover it or not? Our son was diagnosed as "Moderate Plagiocephaly", was Nina diagnosed as a severe case?

Thanks again,

She was diagnosed as a severe case. I will see if I still have the form and will forward it to you in case it helps.
