Guest guest
You have to find a reference for what the proper dosage would be in milligrams... and see if that would easily work with dividing an adult tablet in half or something. That's what I do... I don't use ibuprofen (Katera is allergic to it), but I do the same with Tylenol. I never buy the kid's liquid stuff... only regular strength adult Tylenol... and she gets one tablet (age 10, 69 lbs.). I grind it up and mix it in applesauce. Use Google to search for a dosage chart. Patti HELP-Allowable medicine? My 4yr old started SCD in June. Up till now medicine hasn't become an issue yet. Now she's running a high fever and sore throat. I want to give her some ibuprophen but the childrens stuff has a bunch of illegal ingredients. Does anyone have natural remedy options and/or can she take a portion of an adult dosage? I've called the Dr's office but it can be another 45 min. before they call back. Thanks for any help! Guest guest
Hello, yes the Dr's office finally called back and agreed to allow 1/2 a tylenol and Hannah's already takes pills w/water w/all the lovely supplements she has to take she learned early. Thank goodness. Thanks for the suggestion. They also gave me the conversion for Ibuprofen. > > You have to find a reference for what the proper dosage would be in milligrams... and see if that would easily work with dividing an adult tablet in half or something. > > That's what I do... Guest guest
Just so you know.... regular Tylenol tablets are not free of all illegal starch... but Elaine always said not to worry if a child must have a medication and you cannot easily access a completely legal, compounded version of it. Since giving Tylenol or Motrin for fever is not likely to be something you give very often, I wouldn't worry about it. You *could* contact a compounding pharmacy to make up a completely starch and sugar-free supply to have on hand for her in the future. I'm not sure what that costs... I've never done it. You're so lucky she can swallow tablets and capsules! Patti Re: HELP-Allowable medicine? Guest guest
Hi guys, Tylenol makes suppositories that work wonderful. You can get them in children's strength and adult. Just use the right dose and it bi- passes the gut intirely. Completely SCD legal this way. God for kids that are extra sensitive to the little bit of illegal in the other stuff.
