I had a response from Dr. R in eight days. He sent his request letter to me

via e-mail and requested that I forward it to my insurance company. The

dates Barbara offered for surgery were anywhere from 3 weeks to 6 weeks.

Hope this information helps.

> Hi! My name is and I am trying to prepare all the information

necessary to obtain approval for the mini gastric bypass surgery. Unable to

be self-pay, I am concerned about my insurance co. BCBS of NC - Blue Choice

plan, whether they will approve the surgery. Has anyone had experience with

this plan? This is my last hope. I am working on my packet and obtaining

all my medical records. I hope to submit my patient form to Dr. R. by

Monday. How long will I have to wait for a response from Dr. R.? Will I

submit all the info to the insurance co. or will Dr. R.'s office? If my

insurance co. approves, how long of a wait is there to schedule the surgery?

Please share your knowledge. Thank you.

Any suggestions for me? I just got my letter via e-mail for my insurance

company from Dr R. But my computer is not set up to accept MS Word 2000

format.

Anyone know how I can print this out? I prefer not to have a friend help me

as I've not told anyone about this just yet.

Yeah! Finally, someone else who is scheduled for October 16th. I thought I was

going to be solo their for awhile and I was really getting nervous and scared.

We all need someone (my husband is wonderful and supportive) that really can

relate to us and only we know who they are. I am 48, 5'4 " and 262 pounds.

Bobbi I'll be thinking 'boutcha and praying for all good things with the

surgery, good luck to Joyce too.

Let us know how you are doing later.

Trudy

Hi group. Joyce and I are both dancing with MOM this Sunday and Dr Rutledge

monday. Will anyone call to check on us? I've not been in this group very

long and haven't really gotten to know anyone.. At least pray for us if no

calls. Even though I've not met you guys and gals and I don't really know

you, I feel like I've known you all for years. This common bond now and on

the other side. Its like pre-ops in a wild river reaching up trying not to

drown, and looking up and the post-ops are on the riverbank reaching down

to pull us up. I can't wait to be reaching down to help someone.

Thanks for the posts I have made into my daily happiness.

Thanx so much for the post!!! Hope your pain is subsiding. Write more as you

feel able..Trudy

Well group im back from Durham. Today is a much better day than yesturday.

I got to Durham at 6am and was registered. I went directly to " ambulatory

care " where I signed a lot of papers and got into my OR wardrobe. A sweet

lady named Rita took me back there and I met Ruth in the pre-op area. She

started my IV and rolled me into the OR. It was so cold in there. I said my

hellos and met a few people in masks that were scurring around doing their

job and next thing I know I was in recovery begging for help. Worse pain

than my gallbladder surgery. It only took a few hours to calm down and get

the gas moving out. I walked 2 times and the pain subsided. The rest is

history and I'm home feeling sore but fine. Lots of stuff to remember too!.

(Med wise) I will post more later and any results that I have soon as I

feel better!!

p.s. everyone say a prayer for the family of the helicopter pilot that lost

his life this morning when Duke's chopper crashed near Alamance Regional!!!

Thank you for openly sharing the details of your surgery. Please keep us

up to date on your progress.

Thank you for telling me about that pilot that crashed, I hadn't heard

about it. Do you know how or why it happened? I'll pray for you and

them.

God Bless, Drew

Hi guys!! I woke up this morning to 161 emails in my mailbox, and thought " I

knew I was missing something! " We are here in Durham! It is 8:20 in the

morning, and what a beautiful morning it is, and as soon as I finish this

note, and get off-line, I'm calling Trude and we're meeting for breakfast!!

Meeting Trudy for real, in person! Wow.

Anyway, so far so good. I am not nervous, just eager. I want tomorrow to

come, and the surgery to happen, and then have the tummy pain, cruise the

nurse's station and go get my buddy to walk with me, and then get busy on the

other side! I want to start on this new path toward this new life.

You all are so important and so wonderful! I read Flo's most recent

contribution, sound and wise as usual; I read the wonderful posts that were

sent to Durham specifically, and thank you all for your prayers and good

wishes for all of us crossing over today and tomorrow. Glo Dean, I will try

to find out about Jenn from Protland at clinic today; and will of course

check up on our Ruqayya. Trude and I are gonna go tuck her in tonight, after

clinic and before our last supper. Not really our last, you know what I

mean!

Keep us in your hearts. I will post a little more later, maybe even with my

dancing, singing, acting partner Trude. Y'all have a great day!!!!!!!! Jude

Hi Jude: It's Shelby. You don't really know me even though we have talked.

Best of Luck tomorrow, I hope everything goes well. Terrific even.

I am thinking at this point it will never happen for me. I am looking at

January, if everything goes as planned.

Anyway, this isn't about me, it's about you and Trudy and everyone else who

is fortunate enough to do the DANCE at this time.

LOT OF LUCK AND PRAYERS TO YOU ALL.

Hi All,

Thanks to those who sent me their contact info. I got the dreaded email. I

read all of what she had to say, but I still want to have the surgery! I am

the young one of the group. What's her problem? Does she have some grudge

against Dr. R.? Anyway,

I have a few things to add to the wish list.

1. I want to be able to sit in the back seat of a two door car comfortably.

2. I don't want to be embarrassed to go to the pool.

3. I want to go on my first date.

4. I want to lead a normal teenage life!!
